Ballytour - Walking with The Ghosts of Ballyshanon’s Past

Devised by Dark Daughter Productions. Performed by Maura Logue, Eoghan MacGhiolla Bhríghde, Fiona Maria Fitzpatrick, Patrick McEneaney, Claire Falconer, Rhiannon Kerrigan, Tomás Ó Brogáin and Michael Bonner.

Ballytour is a fun, outdoor Living History experience for all the family. One that offers a feast for eye and ear. Ghosts of ‘Ireland’s Oldest Town’ in period costume share their personal stories with us, as we meet them along a leisurely stroll. You will meet Chieftans of the O’Donnell clan, William Connolly MP, Mary Wollstonecraft, Lady Morgan, Robert Owenson, William and Mary Anne Allingham, Mary Ann Sheils, The Bang Beggar, The Barton Smiths and Eily McAdams among others, telling their stories of duels and dowries, rebels and riches, famine, evictions and gentry life.

Local community participants in the Ballytour project include Roisin Lee Fox, Fionnuala McCoskor, Regina Fahy, Patrick Meehan, Freya Lomax, William and Laura Beck, St. Anne’s Hall Living History Workshop Group, Stagecraft Youth Drama Group, Rossnowlagh Ramblers, students of St. Catherine’s NS and Killbarron NS, Transition Year Students of Coláiste Colmcille, Ballyshannon and Magh Éne College, Bundoran.

Dark Daughter Productions extend special appreciation to Anthony Begley, Billy Finn, Soinbhe Lally, Johnny Cunningham, the Stephens Family, Helen Meehan and Donegal Historical Society, in respect of their historical research.
