Found Drowned – The Mysterious Death of Bella Brooks

Found Drowned – The Mysterious Death of Bella Brooks is a new play by Conor Malone, based on the true events of July 1876 when the body of Bella Brooks was found floating in the River Finn near Doneyloop. Bella was a popular local figure and the discovery of her body, dressed for a wedding, was the cause of much rumour and speculation among the Finn Valley community and beyond. Many pointed the finger of blame at her fiancé, Robert Lecky, while others maintained that her death was a suicide. To this day the tragic tale of Bella Brooks has always asked more questions than it has provided answers.

This is Conor Malone’s fourth play. Previous works include The Fund (PJ O’Connor Award 2015), The Root of All Evil (2023) and A Matter of Rights (2024), each one premiered at the Balor Arts Centre.
