Women of The Waves is presented by Donegal County Council as part of the Culture Programme for Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2026. Funded by Culture Ireland, Creative Ireland and The Arts Council.
Women of The Waves is an illuminated processional work created by LUXE Landscape Theatre, that will build to a spectacular finale on Rossnowlagh Beach. Its uniquely visual narrative draws on both ancient travels and recent migrations, combining indigenous and travelled imagery and bringing communities together.
LUXE embrace the elemental landscape of the Atlantic coast to make their unique and journeying works of landscape theatre. Immersing audiences in story streams, unveiling illuminated images in the half-light and opening windows into worlds of the imagination. Bringing fire to places where the land, the sea and the sky all meet. You are invited to walk with them on an alchemical journey in Rossnowlagh.
Inishowen-based LUXE are one of Ireland’s leading theatre and spectacle companies. Their work ranges from intimate processional events to large scale illuminated spectacles, typically suffused with the elemental energy of the Atlantic. Their dazzling productions have thrilled communities throughout Ireland and overseas, including a series of particularly successful engagements facilitated through Donegal County Council’s cultural partnerships in Norway, Iceland and Newfoundland.
