An Irish Repertory Theatre New York production
Off the Meter, on the Record
After a sold-out run at the Irish Repertory Theatre in New York City, John McDonagh is bringing his one man play, Off The Meter to Donegal.
McDonagh, whose parents hail from Pettigo, takes his audience on a fascinating and often hilarious ride through his 40 years behind the wheel of a New York yellow cab.
With a parallel career as a radio host, he has condensed his many years of activism, reality television show antics and observation into a love song to the ever changing neighbourhoods of the city that never sleeps.
Add in a touch of politics and brushes with celebrities who are itching to get behind the wheel of a big yellow taxi and Off The Meter is a gift that keeps on giving.
