The Island Wake

Written by Fergus Cleary. Performed by Fergus Cleary and The Island Players.

In this hilarious comedy by writer, storyteller, musician and all-round entertainer Fergus Cleary, an inquisitive English tourist meets an islander who invites him to experience a traditional island wake. However, with no one having died and there being no corpse to wake, the islanders have to improvise.

The Island Players have toured this hugely popular show to close to forty community venues and theatres throughout Donegal, all the while raising thousands of euros for local community causes. This will be the company’s first visit to the Gaeltacht area of South West Donegal and they are looking forward to it immensely.

Thee ten strong cast includes Fergus Cleary, Andy McGranaghan, Mary Lafferty, Mark McIntyre, Mary Sweeney, Noel Sweeney, Bernadette Thompson, John Duffy, Gerard McGee and Seamus McCrudden.
